UNION TWP. >> Fireworks stored inside two tractor-trailers caught fire and exploded Wednesday night, May 10.

The fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. at International Fireworks Manufacturing Co. near Shed and Red Corner roads in Union Township by residents who heard explosions.

Smoke from the trailers could be seen up to a mile away, according to witnesses.

Firefighters from Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties responded to the scene and were able to contain the fires to the trailers except for a small wooded area near the trailers that also caught fire.

No injuries were reported and firefighters on the scene said no adjoining property were threatened by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state police fire marshal.
