With the installation of a new digital projector – The State Theatre is ready to show movies.

Through an announcement, The State Theatre Preservation Society states “The tradition of movies in Boyertown began back in 1912 when the Lyric Theatre was built by George Unger, William Sabol, Newton Erb and William Schaeffer. The silent movies of 1912 are now the 21st Century hi-tech digital movies of 2017…” The State Theatre has been refurbished and a new $100,000 digital projector with 17 speakers has been installed.

The Grand Opening event is set for Friday, May 26, with the feature film being Disney’s “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”

The State Theatre is managed and operated by the State Theatre Preservation Society, a 501 c (3) nonprofit corporation. First run movies will be featured as well as classics and family favorites. The State Theatre Board of Directors is developing a theatre program for children’s birthday parties as well as special pre-movie social events for adult groups.

The movie Marquee will keep the community updated about upcoming shows and showtimes, as will the State Theatre website at <www.BoyertownStateTheatre.com>. The theatre is located at 61 N. Reading Ave. Boyertown.
