Pennsylvania American Water has announced the start of water main installation in Exeter Township to improve service reliability, prevent water outages and enhance fire protection. The approximately $285,000 project will replace aging pipe dating back to the 1960s.

Crews began installing nearly 1,300 feet of new 8-inch ductile iron pipe along West 48th Street between Oak Parkway and Hillside Road. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June, with final paving restoration scheduled for the fall, weather permitting.

Construction will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction hours, and motorists are urged to find alternate routes. During construction, customers might experience temporary water service interruptions, discolored water and/or lower than normal water pressure.
