Despite the wet, dreary weather 151 riders took part in the 10th Annual Ride for Autism on May 6 from which proceeds benefit Aaron’s Acres for a seventh consecutive year. Together they raised more than $4,600 the highest amount raised to date for this event.

Event proceeds will help provide scholarships to our camp participants. The event was organized by Hamburg resident Kristi Koinski, the parent of an Aaron’s Acres’ former participant and her sister co-organizer Sharon Bossler of Bernville.

Registration took place at Blue Mountain Fishing Lakes in Schuylkill Haven. Riders were treated to a pork bbq meal courtesy of Yo Bot and live entertainment by Tossed Salad following the ride back at Blue Mountain Fishing Lakes.

“Each year, participants have continued to show their support for this event by exceeding the previous year’s donations, regardless of the weather or any other factor,” said Koinski. “Many people also donated their time and talent to make the event successful. It really shows the dedication they have for helping children with special needs and we are always amazed by how charitable the group is. We are excited to be able to raise funds for such a great cause.”

In Berks County, Aaron’s Acres has offered Summer Camp and a monthly school-year recreational program for 16 years. South Mountain YMCA Camp, https://www.smymca.org/, is the site of Aaron’s Acres’ Summer Camp once again in 2017. Proceeds from all fundraising efforts benefit families and participants in all counties served by Aaron’s Acres.
