Fleetwood Girl Scout Service Unit is proud to announce that Courtney Birckbichler (Blandon) received her Girl Scout Gold Award during a ceremony held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fleetwood.

The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Courtney also earned The Trifecta Award which is awarded to a Girl Scout who has earned the Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

To earn her Girl Scout Gold Award, Courtney spent over 92 hours organizing, preparing and leading a group of volunteers, both peers and adults, to complete several projects for Berks County 4-H. She and her volunteers created a YouTube video promoting Berks County 4-H annual summer camp. Since she was eight years old, Courtney has been a member of the 4-H Material Girls Sewing Club and has attended 4-H camp as a camper and now as a camp counselor. The 4-H Cooperatve Center requested that she create a video to encourage more participation at their summer camp.

Courtney also organized her group of volunteers to renovate the 4-H Center in Leesport, PA. They spent two weekends prepping and painting 27 interior and exterior doors, a horse announcer’s booth and removing over 100 water damaged ceiling tiles in a meeting room.

Courtney is going to be a senior at Fleetwood Area High School. She has been involved in Girl Scouts since she was in Kindergarten. She is an Ambassador Girl Scout in Troop 11096.
