St. Francis Academy’s principal, Deacon Thomas Murphy, paid off his Principal’s reading challenge on Tuesday, May 30, with a ‘rock concert.’ He challenged the students to read 4,500 books and they read over 5,000.

The students initially thought he would be just be banging on the drums trying to sound like he knows what he’s doing, when he promised them a rock concert. He was accompanied by professional musicians from NYC.

The professionals were Sal Polichette and Jim Fleming, his brother-in-law, from the band The Electrix. The Elextrix is known as one of the leading Jam Bands in NYC.

The trio played for an hour rocking the oldies.
