Rep. Marcy Toepel (R-Montgomery) is inviting 147th District residents to a Miller-Keystone Blood Drive on Thursday, June 29, anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at her district office, 1885 Swamp Pike Road, Suite 107, Gilbertsville.

“Men and women of our communities depend on life-saving donations that we can make with less than an hour of our time. Please roll up your sleeve and give blood,” Toepel said. “Saving a life is quick and easy.”

All donors will receive a free car wash at Adam’s Royal Car Wash as a special thank you.

To be eligible, donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. State law requires written consent by a parent or guardian for 16-year-olds to donate blood. For a full list of eligibility guidelines, please visit <www.GiveAPint.org>.

Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and according to the American Red Cross, approximately 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed every day to meet that demand.

To donate blood, residents should call Lynn at Toepel’s district office at 610-323-3299 to schedule a donor appointment, which is necessary to participate. Donors will be required to show valid photo identification – including a driver’s license, passport or school identification – on the day of the blood drive.

In addition to the blood drive, district residents will have the opportunity to talk with Toepel’s office staff about state government programs and services.
