In an outdoor meeting in the club’s pavilion, the Rehrersburg Lions Club’s officers for the 2017-2018 program year were installed. Serving as installing Lion was PDG Bob Argot, currently zone chair for three area clubs.

After asking current club secretary Lou Brown as to whether all had been properly elected and getting an affirmative answer, PDG Argot put a sweet twist on the installation by giving each officer installed a candy bar that tied into said officer’s responsibility.

For Lion Tamer Curt Wanner, PDG Argot gave him a Butterfinger, telling Lion Wanner, “You have the responsibility of having the gavel, the gong, and the banner in place for each meeting. You are also the main person responsible for greeting visitors. So that you do not allow these responsibilities to figuratively slip through your fingers I present to you as a reminder of staying focused.”

Tail Twister Kate Robinson was given a Snickers bar, since part of her duties is to make people chuckle or even snicker with fun activities and stories.

Directors Brian Haag and Jake Reese were given a Symphony bar, with the reminder they must work to maintain good music within the club.

Lion Nelson Beidler was given an M&M after being reminded of his duties and that the key for his gift was more members and more members.

New club treasurer Lou Brown was presented a Payday bar, with the words, “You have the responsibility of keeping the financial records and preparing for an audit.”

Secretary Brian Haag, got another candy bar for his new but very important position, that of club secretary. Knowing how much secretaries must do, PDG Argot gave him a Take 5 bar, as a reminder to relax at times.

Incoming president Jake Reese was told, “Babe Ruth was one of the most powerful men in baseball history. As president, you have power but not quite as much; therefore, I present you with a Baby Ruth bar.”

And for Brian Haag, going out as president, Lion Argot had a Whatchamacallit candy bar for him since in a few months the club will have forgotten who had been president and refer to that person as “Whatchamacallit.”

Each on, in turn, was asked if they would do his or her best to fulfill the duties of the office and each answered affirmatively.

In addition to the above, also serving the club for the upcoming program year are, Lion Steve Miller and Rick Klopp as directors, with Lion Klopp also serving as 1st vice president.

To all the members, PDG Argot stated, “You, too, have a responsibility to support these officers and to work for club growth. Do you promise to do so?” Again, there was a unified “Yes.”
