Boyertown Area School District Superintendent Richard Faidley may soon be leading another Berks County school district.

Wilson School District announced this week that Faidley will be officially appointed as its superintendent of schools pending approval at its July 17 board meeting. His effective start date has yet to be determined.

Faidley was appointed Boyertown’s superintendent in July 2013. His contract at that time took effect beginning August 2013 and ending on July 31, 2017. In March 2016, the Boyertown School Board approved a new contract from Faidley, extending his term to June 2020. His current salary is $185,661.

“We need to have an executive session regarding it (Faidley’s resignation),” Boyertown School Board President John Landino said. “We need to discuss what to do about an interim superintendent and how to go about the search for a new superintendent.”

Landino also mentioned the need to determine a separation date and other logistics. He said these discussions will take place in an executive session following the regular Boyertown School Board meeting on June 27.

“It’s the beginning of our long process,” he said, referencing the process Wilson just went through and is nearing completion on. “We just found out; we need to start making arrangements over the coming days and weeks to get all of this ironed out.”

The Wilson School District announcement of Faidley’s pending hiring cited his experience in education, including his role as a high school social studies teacher in addition to chief administrative roles.

“The board is sincerely appreciative of the input and feedback from the staff and the community during this search process. We are all looking forward to a positive, collaborative future moving forward with Dr. Faidley’s leadership,” said Steve Ehrlich, president of the Wilson School Board.

Until Faidley officially assumes the new role, Steve Keifer will continue serving as interim superintendent at Wilson.
