The Amity Police Department recently hired and swore into service Police Officer Troy Nicholson.

Nicholson was hired to work part time, at an hourly rate of $25.62.

He will cover shifts for officers who are sick, on vacation, or who are appearing in district court after issuing traffic citations.

Amity Police Chief Andrew Kensey said the goal is to reduce the amount of overtime paid to full time officers who have previously covered officers’ shifts.

“I look forward to building our police department,” said Kensey.

Nicholson is currently a part-time officer in the borough of Royersford.

He is a graduate of the Daniel Boone School District and has resided in the district for the past 16 years.
