On Monday, June 26, 2017, at approximately 12:05 p.m., Johnathon F. Steckley of Mount Carmel, allegedly entered a home located on North 6th Street, Hamburg Borough. The resident was present as Steckley entered the home. The resident confronted Steckley; he then fled the home in a black in color Nissan. The victim provided the police with a description of the male and the vehicle he was travelling in. Officer Keven Chase, Hamburg Borough Police Department, was summoned by a resident on Mountain Road just west of the borough line in Windsor Township, to informed Officer Chase of suspicious activity. Officer Chase observed Steckley’s vehicle, approached the vehicle, a trooper from Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg Station arrived on scene.

Officer Chase approached Steckley to inquire as to his activities in the borough. Steckley became argumentative and combative. Steckley refused to comply with the officer’s order and resisted being taken into custody. Steckley was taken into custody with the assistance of the state trooper.

Steckley was taken to Berks County Central processing to be arraigned on charges of Criminal Trespass, Resisting Arrest and Driving Under Suspension. Steckley was remanded to Berks County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
