The Kutztown Area Historical Society is publishing a book commemorating Kutztown’s bicentennial celebration in 2015. The book, scheduled for release at the society’s annual holiday festival on Nov. 11, features almost 500 color photographs of all the bicentennial events.

The book is entitled “Vergess Net,” which is Pennsylvania Dutch for “Don’t Forget.” The title was suggested by Keith Brintzenhoff as a nod to Kutztown’s roots along with a plea not to forget the community spirit that the bicentennial awakened.

“Publishing a book is a great way for the society to share all the wonderful pictures we have of the bicentennial events,” says society president Sheila Fulton. “If you went to any of the events, chances are your picture is in the book!”

Everyone is invited to become part of history by sponsoring “Vergess Net.” A $50 sponsorship gets your name listed on the sponsorship page and a copy of the book. A $100 sponsorship also gets your name embossed on the cover of your book. “Vergess Net” will be a limited edition, so sponsoring ensures you’ll get a book before they are sold out. All sponsors can pick up their books at the holiday festival on November 11 or during society events such as the train display or programs. Books can also be mailed for a $7 fee.

Sponsorship forms are available on the society’s website at www.kutztownhistory.org or by e-mailing the society at kahs1892@yahoo.com.
