The purchase of T-shirts, hats, VIP passes and even cups, all go toward defraying the cost of the GoFourth Festival and ensuring that admission to all events is free. When people see you in your hat or T-shirt, they'll know you helped cover the cost.

And if you can't afford to donate any money, you can donate your time and your effort by becoming a volunteer. You get this cool blue “staff” T-shirt, made possible by a donation from A. Jackson Ecker Inc. Plumbing and Cooling.

POTTSTOWN >> So maybe you’re not exactly swimming in cash, but you would like to do your part to help the Pottstown GoFourth! celebration be a success.

Remember, there is no tax money being used to stage this new event, other than that used for running Memorial Park.

There are things other than money you can donate to be a part of a new tradition here in Pottstown – most significantly, your time and effort.

Although a small core of organizers have helped to bring the GoFourth! Festival to this point, it will take a small army of volunteers – a Volunteer Corps if you will – to take it over the finish line.

“We have been amazed at how much support we have received from the community so far,” said Amy Francis, one of the event organizers.

“But we’ve come to the point where dollars are not enough. We need bodies, willing bodies, to help make sure all of our events go off without a hitch,” she said.

She has even set up a handy website, where you can look over what areas and times volunteers are needed to fill, and sign up for as much or as little as you can manage.

You can find it at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090c45adaf28a6f49-gofourth

For example, you can be a general volunteer – lots of slots are open for that; you can help set up the vendors on Monday morning; you can help with parking; with setting up the stage or in the Sly Fox beer tent.

“We’ve tried to make it as easy as possible for people who only have a little time, or a lot of time, to sign up to volunteers as much as they feel comfortable with doing,” said Francis.

None of which is to say that financial donations will not continue to be welcomed. They will be.

Money is being raised by the sale of hats and shirts to mark the event.

You can purchase them on-line at https://squareup.com/store/Tricounty-community-network or buy them at High Street Music, 135 High St. Hours there are 3 to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

Or, you can of course make a direct donation. You can donate online at: https://tcnetwork.org/event/pottstown-gofourth-festival/ or the old fashion way by putting a check in the mail.

Send checks payable to TCN with “Go Fourth Festival” on the memo line to: TriCounty Community Network, 2151 E. High St., Suite C, Pottstown, PA 19464.

All donations will be published in The Mercury.

In case you’ve missed it, Pottstown GoFourth is a new, two-day event with activities, vendors, a dunk tank, hot air balloon rides, scavenger hunt, beer tent and sneak peak at the laser show on Monday, July 3 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Memorial Park.

And on Tuesday, the traditional July 4th Independence Day Parade will make its way down High Street from Adams to Manatawny streets starting at 10:30 a.m.

Then, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., events will continue in Memorial Park for day two of the GoFourth festival with two added features.

Five musical acts will fill the day from 11:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.

And that’s when the main Mobius8 Laser Show will rock the park, closing out this year’s events.
