About 45 volunteers from the Hamburg Area School District and the surrounding community helped with the installation of additional playground equipment at the Perry Elementary Center playground during the Perry Elementary PTO’s Community Build on Saturday, June 24.

“Not only has Phase 2 doubled the size of the playground, it also added more options for all of the students that attend Perry Elementary,” said Yvonne Stitzel, Perry PTO President and Perry PTO Fundraising Chair. “The Perry Elementary PTO purchased the equipment knowing that every student will benefit from the equipment that is on our playground.”

The Perry Elementary PTO raised the funds to purchase the playground equipment and other supplies for the build. They held a community build for phase 1, and decided to hold a community build for phase 2 also.

“We had always known there would be a phase 2 to the Perry Elementary Center playground, we just didn’t realize it would happen this quickly.”

Stitzel said the Perry PTO were able to raise enough money through their PTO Coach/Vera Bradley Bingo and Raffle over the past few years.

“Our students also participated in our first Boosterthon Fun Run last fall and all of the funds raised by our students went to our playground expansion,” she said. “We are thankful for everyone that volunteered their time during our community build. We could not have done it without you! We are looking forward to the playground reopening and having a ribbon cutting ceremony after school is back in session this fall.”
