Fleetwood Police responded a hazardous situation at 2:30 p.m. on July 6 that required the assistance of the Reading Bomb Squad.
Fleetwood Police report that a female dropped off a small bottle of an unknown type of explosive substance at the Fleetwood Police Department, located at the Fleetwood Community Center, 110 W. Arch St., Fleetwood.
Police report that after investigating the label on the bottle, it was learned that this substance is flammable and explosive. After consulting with Reading Bomb Squad, Fleetwood Police Department along with Fleetwood Fire Company closed off an area surrounding the container until the Reading Bomb Squad could arrive and contain the situation.
Reading Bomb Squad arrived on scene and placed the bottle in an overpack container and took it to a safe location to detonate it.
There were no injuries. Fleetwood Police were assisted on scene by Fleetwood Fire Company and Fire Police and Life Lion EMS Squad.
At this time the incident is still under investigation.
