AMITY >> Amity Police are conducting an investigation after a mail theft was reported on July 4.

Police said in a Facebook post Friday that they received a call at around 1:18 a.m. on July 4 for a report of mail theft on the 1700 block of Old Swede Road (Route 662). It was reported that a silver Nissan Sentra was involved in the incident.

A white female, reported to be in her early 20s, was allegedly taking mail from various mailboxes when she was confronted by a witness, police said. The woman was described as standing approximately 5-feet, 4-inches to 5-feet, 5-inches tall with black hair, a black hat and hooded sweatshirt. After being confronted, the woman turned over all of the mail and indicated that it was a prank.

Upon further investigation, police found that other mailboxes near the location were missing several pieces of mail.

Police have identified two suspects believed to be involved and multiple mail items have been recovered, according to authorities.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Officers are asking that anyone who believes they may have been a victim or anyone who has additional information on the incident contact Detective DiMaria at the Amity Township Police Department 610-689-6000 Ext. 235.
