Amity Township is gearing up for its first National Night Out. The event is set for Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 6-9 p.m. at the Amity Athletic Club Pool parking lot; the pool will be open.
“This is our first one, I’ve been thinking about doing it for a while,” said Karen LeBlanc, president of Amity Township Athletic Club.
LeBlanc explained how she saw other municipalities hosting National Night Out events last year, and this year the Amity AC club believes it is organized enough to host one.
“I thought we should do something similar to support First Responders; that’s our primary motivation.”
The entire community and neighboring communities are welcome. Local fire departments and ambulance companies have been invited to attend, in addition to the area clubs.
“We’re trying to touch as many parts, bases of the community as we can,” said LeBlanc.
Activities will include a meet and greet with local First Responders, a cop dunk tank, vehicles on display, free swimming in the pools, an Elvis impersonator, a clown, and a moon bounce for kids.
Additional information can be found on the Athletic Club’s website at <amityac.org>. The pool is located at 55 Amity Park Road.
