DOUGLASS (Mont.) >> Township supervisors recently voted unanimously to borrow nearly $1.2 million to pay for the new public works building already under construction on Municipal Drive.
The exact amount of the borrowing was $1,177,50, an amount supervisors’ Chairman Anthony Kuklinski has promised will not cause township property taxes to be raised.
The borrowing was through Tompkins VST Bank.
At 12,000 square feet, the new building will be three times bigger than the old maintenance pole-barn type building, which was built in the 1930s.
The new building will be ADA Compliant, adds sleeping quarters, lunch room, kitchen and shower facilities and a back-up generator so the building can also be used as the emergency operations center for the township, Township Manager Peter Hiryak said last month.
The building also has an indoor truck washing facility. The garage bays will be heated by gas infrared radiant heat.
Bob Dries, who is overseeing the project for the township, said Monday night the concrete base slab has been poured and the walls are being put up.
“We should have roof trusses by next week,” he said, adding that some of the utilities have also been installed.
