Saturday, Aug. 19 is Children’s Day at the 2017 Kutztown Fair. The gates open at 2 p.m. to accommodate even more fun and thrills. Extra activities will be featured during children’s day to add to the excitement and fun for attendees of all ages.

At 4 p.m. in the Arts and Crafts building will be the first Special LEGO Building Contest. There are 3 age group categories (I) ages 4-7 years with an adult partner; (II) ages 8-10 years of age; (III) ages 11-14 years of age. Sign up is free. To participate, head to the Arts & Crafts building 30 minutes prior to the contest, in the contest area in the Arts & Crafts building. Entries are limited to the first 10 sign ups in each age category. Each contestant will be given similar set of Legos to use to build their unique creation. Contestants will be given 15 minutes to build their item. Entries will be judged on creativity and originality. All Lego pieces and items created with them are the property of the fair. First place wins $8 and a blue ribbon.

Also on Saturday the fair will host a scavenger hunt. Children will be given the scavenger hunt entry form at the gate at the time of admission or pick one up in the fair office. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the scavenger hunt. Seek out the hidden treasurers and learn all about the fair and the animals that come to fair as part of the scavenger hunt.

Children’s day participants can gather at the Musical Stage just before 6 p.m. to see who wins the general prizes as the Fair hosts the Children’s Day Toy Prize drawings. This year the John C. Schaffer Memorial is sponsoring part of the prizes awarded to the children.

The Kutztown Fair opens Monday Aug. 14 and runs through Aug. 19, and is celebrating its 146th year, featuring music, animals, rides, shows and great food. Admission to the fair is only $10 per person 18 months and older. Parking is $2. Bring the family to experience fun and thrills at the 2017 Kutztown Fair.
