We have upgraded many of our facilities in June, July and August. For example, a new turf field was installed in the stadium and is ready for the start of fall sports. The high school gymnasium floor was sanded, restained and looks brand new. The roof at Twin Valley High School and Honey Brook Elementary received additional repairs, along with other projects around the district.
Instructionally, Twin Valley High School is preparing for the 2nd year implementation of their Career Pathway model which supports students’ examination of post high school career choices. Social Studies and science teachers are ready to implement their new curriculum that incorporates the standards and use of common assessments to drive instruction. The library media center will offer new Maker Spaces that will include video production, green screens and virtual reality experiences. This will allow students to collaborate on projects in a 1:1 device environment.
The Twin Valley Middle School will put into practice their new positive behavior plan incorporating aspects of Restorative Practices making students accountable to their peers for their actions. Administration and teachers are excited about using an improved Google site, common assessment data and sharing the middle school experience through the use of social media.
The elementary schools look forward to upgrades in technology including new computer labs and additional classroom computers. Each elementary building will receive an added Chrome Book cart to use in classrooms as well. Administrators will be working with staff to build teacher capacity by increasing opportunities for teachers to take on leadership roles in the areas of instruction, climate and building goals.
In the area of technology Twin Valley has been upgrading its infrastructure in past two years including adding additional wireless access points to buildings to prepare for the move to 1:1 devices in grades 8-11 in 2018-2019 and 5-12 in 2019-2020 so that each student has their own Chrome Book.
