YWCA Lancaster is currently accepting nominations for this year’s Women of Achievement Awards through Thursday, Aug. 31.

The Women of Achievement Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Inn at Leola Village. It will honor six deserving women in the community, helping to raise money and awareness for YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

The Women of Achievement Luncheon is intended to celebrate women who have demonstrated qualities of leadership and excellence in their personal and professional endeavors, whether or not they hold a prominent professional position. This is for the “unsung heroes” in the community, women on a mission who dare to make a difference.

To nominate a deserving woman, go to ywcalancaster.org/womenofachievement to download a nomination packet. You can also find additional event information on the website. Partner opportunities are still available with information found at ywcalancaster.org/womenofachievement.

Tickets for the awards luncheon can be purchased at https://ywcawomenofachievement.eventbrite.com.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Bertice Berry, an internationally known speaker on diversity and inclusion as well as an award-winning entertainer and best-selling author. Berry has defied the odds on her way to success. She grew up in poverty, part of a large family in Wilmington, Del., and was told she was not college material by one of her teachers. Fate stepped in as another teacher recognized something in Berry, which in turn changed the trajectory of her life. Berry is a gifted lecturer and comedienne who combines wisdom and humor for an impactful message.

Since 1889, YWCA Lancaster has invested in the power of women by providing a variety of services that help women take charge of their own lives. YWCA Lancaster is dedicated to the elimination of racism; the empowerment of women; and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
