MOHNTON >> The Berks Military History Museum held its grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 12.
The museum will be open on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 198 E. Wyomissing Ave. Other hours will be announced at a later date.
School groups, senior groups, and veterans organizations can make an appointment to view the collection.
For the museum’s celebration – Ray Lascomb and Rodney Focht, residents of The Heritage of Green Hills in Shillington, volunteered their services to create a room-sized diorama of the World War II Battle of the Bulge.
Lascomb and Focht, both veterans of World War II, are members of The Heritage of Green Hill’s 50-member Veterans Association. Both Lascomb and Focht were on hand for the Grand Opening.
In addition, Focht played “Taps” on his trumpet at the event. He is a member of Bugles Across America, an organization that was formed to help guarantee every veteran could receive a military funeral with the playing of Taps, which could be played by audio recording if a live bugler was not available.
The buglers of Buglers Across America volunteer their services at funerals.
