On Aug. 12, a Dragonfly and Damselfly walk was held by the Mengel Natural History Society and Baird Ornithological Club. About 24 people were present at this years walk. It was a bit cool and overcast but we found at least 13 different species. Ken Lebo and Mike Slater did a great job explaining and showing everyone there examples hiding and caught. Participants met at the Monument Parking Lot for the walk in the Kernsville Dam Recreation Area in Tilden Township.

After overcast weather the previous week, a Dragonfly and Damselfly walk was again held by the Mengel Natural History Society and Baird Ornithological Club on Aug. 20. About 15 people were present at this week’s walk. Great weather for this walk and we found at least 15 different species. Tony “Doc” Schoch, Ken Lebo and Mike Slater did a great job explaining and showing everyone there examples hiding and caught. In addition to all the Dragonflies and Damselflies we saw, a baby snapping turtle and a painted turtle were found along the walking path.
