BOYERTOWN >> Police have charged a recent Boyertown Area High School graduate after he allegedly sold drugs to other students.

Rakhi Tyree Allen-Sims, 19, of Pottstown, has been charged after police say they were called to the school to investigate possible drug-dealing.

Police said in an affidavit of probable cause that they were called to the high school on April 26 for a report of drug sales. They received an incident report from the school resource officer that a male student, identified as Allen-Sims, sold Xanax to a female student. During the investigation, police said another student came to the security office to report that Allen-Sims had asked him if he wanted to buy Xanax, a prescription medication used to treat anxiety and panic disorders.

Allen-Sims was then escorted to the security office where he was searched and found to be in possession of a plastic bag with eight Xanax bars and 17 broken pieces of Xanax. The items were found in Allen-Sims’ drawstring bag that he used for school folders, police said.

Allen-Sims then admitted to asking students if they wanted to buy Xanax and provided a written statement indicating that he sold three bars of Xanax to a female student for $15.

Court records indicate that Allen-Sims was charged in relation to the Xanax incident on July 17. He was taken into custody on separate charges related to possession of marijuana on Aug. 22.

He is awaiting a preliminary hearing related to both cases on Aug. 30 before District Judge Michael Hartman. He was unable to post the set $40,000 bail and is being held at Berks County Prison.
