READING >> Chances are where you were during the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, will be something you’ll remember for a very long time.

More than 1,000 attended the Reading Public Library’s solar eclipse party on the DoubleTree parking garage rooftop.

Complimentary solar eclipse glasses were available for safe viewing for all attendees; there were other activities to take part in as well.

“We were overwhelmed by the response: over 1,000 people,” said Library Director Bronwen Gamble. “It was a great party atmosphere and people came together to share glasses and talk and dance and enjoy a phenomenon bigger than all of us.”

The Reading Public joined libraries across the country in celebrating this celestial event and partnered with the City of Reading, Reading Parking Authority, the Downtown Improvement District, and other organizations in the community to help prepare for the gathering.
