POTTSTOWN >> The annual Pottstown Pet Fair is returning in September for what will be its seventh year.

Furry friends and their owners will gather in Memorial Park on Saturday, Sept. 16, for the yearly festivities celebrating pets. The event will include old favorites as well as a few new features.

This year, the Pet Fair will feature its usual blessing of the animals as well as a K9 demonstration by Pottstown Police that had its inaugural run last year. New this year, the Pet Fair will be hosting an animal CPR class. The course allows participants to become certified in CPR and first aid for cats and dogs. In addition, the course will teach participants safety techniques for working with sick or injured animals, how to take vital signs and how to manage common medical emergencies for animals such as severe wounds, poisoning, burns and choking. The course costs $69.95 per person and includes a Pet CPR and First Aid EBook, 2 CPR Certification Wallet Cards, an official certificate and a two year subscription to the Pet Emergency Education Animal Emergency Resource Center.

Additions such as those continue to keep the pet fair growing. The fair is currently the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania. According to a list from Aug. 15 posted on the Pet Fair Facebook page, 49 vendors had already signed up for slots at the fair. They include Cat NAPS of Pottstown, Mostly Muttz Rescue, The Montgomery County SPCA, Brewscuits, Dogs for the Deaf Inc. and many others.

This year’s Pet Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Memorial Park, just off King Street.
