Fleetwood Girl Scout Cadette Troop 1773 realized the results of their hard work with a trip this summer from Fleetwood to Disney World, Florida.
The Girl Scouts spent 2 1/2 years planning and saving for this trip. They washed cars, sold hoagies, held yard sales and collected aluminum cans to name a few of their money earning endeavors. Of course, they also did the usual Girl Scout Nut/Candy/Magazine sale and Girl Scout Cookie sale. The girls were frugal with their money, saving every last penny to realize their dream.
Along the way, they learned to budget, how to keep a check book, the art of compromise, and how long it takes to save for big dreams. These girls worked tirelessly to achieve their goal, and while some days that goal seemed very far away, they never gave up. During this journey, they also found a way to help others. While they collected the aluminum cans for cash, they also saved the tabs and donated those to the Shriners.
In preparation for the trip, the girls made their own custom tie dyed T-shirts so it would be easier to find each other in the amusements parks.
The Troop enjoyed time in all four theme parks, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. The girls had a great time making memories with their fellow Girl Scouts that will last a lifetime.
