Every Monday in the Community Room at the Village Library there is an opportunity for homeschooled children of any age to gather together for a variety of activities. This is the third year the library will be offering this to our community.
The group meets weekly and has done a number of educational as well as entertaining activities such as public speaking, holiday parties, book club, fun outings and game times. There is usually a monthly field trip. In the past, the group has gone to places like Zimhaven Farm, Shady Maple Market, Reider Labs, Nature’s Accent Taxidermy, My Pet’s Braces and many more.
A monthly art class is another highlight. The children have explored using pastels, polymer clay, watercolors, sketching and more.
The age range presently is from age 2 to Tenth Grade. It’s encouraging to see the older kids helping the younger ones. Also, the children can lead the group if they have a presentation or art/craft they would like to do. Parents are asked to stay during the group time unless prior arrangements have been made. The person overseeing the group was a teacher for eight years before homeschooling her own children for the past 12 years.
There is no cost to join. If interested, please contact the library at 610-286-1022.
