I love trivia. I had never researched anything in particular before about my birthdate, Oct. 1, 1940, but my curiosity got the best of me.

First I checked the weather on Mid-Western Regional Climate Center and found the weather in this area, on my birthdate, to be 63 degrees, with no rain. Great day for me!

Dr. Smith, from Topton, was able to bring me in his little black satchel (As children, we were told Dr. Smith brought the baby in his satchel.) By the time I was born, I’m sure Dr. Smith had a car, but I was told on some wintry days, when he couldn’t get there with his horse and buggy, Pop had to deliver the baby.

According to My Birthday Ninja, I was able to find out various things about this date.

October 1, 1940 was a Tuesday and it was the 275th day of the year. I will be able to reuse my old 1940 calendar in 2024, as they’ll be the same. I’ll only have 7 years to wait to hang my old 1940 vintage calendar up on the wall.

My Zodiacn sign is Libra and my birthstone is Opal. My mother-in-law gave me her opal tear-drop necklace. Previously, my husband had given me an opal tear-drop ring.

My birthday numbers combined, reveal my Life Path number is 7, which represents analysis, awareness, and understanding. I am a searcher and seeker of truth. I must say, I have always considered #7 to be my lucky number.

Furthermore, as of April 17, 2017 (The day I wrote this article.) I have 166 days left until my next birthday when I’ll be 77. There were 27,958 days from the day I was born to this day.

And there were 947 full moons from when I was born to this day.

Here are a few of the people, in the past, that I share Oct. 1 with: 208 Alexander Severus, Roman Emperor; 1207 Henry III, King of England, at 9 years of age; 1808 Mary Ann Custis, wife of Robert E. Lee; 1832 Caroline Harrison, 24th First Lay of U.S.; 1910 Bonnie Parker with husband, Clyde, famous outlaws 1930s; 1935 Julie Andrews, singer and actress.

An interesting aside about Bonnie Parker was that she loved writing songs and poetry. Here are some of her words, “Some say they’ll go down together, And they’ll bury them side by side, To a few, it’ll be grief. To the last a relief. But it’s death for Bonnie and Clyde.”

A few events of the past that coincide with Oct. 1: 1883 Thomas Edison opened up the first electric lamp factory (now a National Historic Place) in Brockton, Mass.; 1883 Ford Motor Co. placed Ford Model T on the market at $825; 1957 President Dwight D. Eisenhower approved “In God We Trust” to be placed on paper currency.

A few events that coincide with Oct. 1, 1940: Albert Eisnstein was born In Germany in 1879, won 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics, and became a U.S. citizen in 1940, but still kept his Swiss citizenship. An iconic photo, taken by Claude P. Dettloff, ‘Wait for me Daddy.’ The Pennsylvania Turnpike opened, stretching 160 miles from Carlisle to Irwin. A total solar eclipse occurred, where the moon moved in front of the sun, leaving the outer edge of the sun visible as a ‘ring of fire’ but it was not visible in Berks County.
