The renovations on Good Shepherd’s clock tower are almost done. The clock is now illuminated and keeping perfect time. The bell has been cleaned and powder coated. The hammer strikes the automatically on the hour and the clapper works when the rope is pulled. Just like old times, only better. The only thing left to do is repoint the bricks, which will be finished next year.
Now is the time to celebrate. According to Glenn Werstler, chairman of the Save Our Boyertown Town Clock Foundation committee charged with fixing the clock and tower, a celebration of the repair work will be held Oct. 1 at 11:30 a.m. in the church’s parking lot. Everyone is invited.
The project is the result of several years of planning by the Boyertown-based Save Our Boyertown Town Clock Foundation. At the beginning of May, the repair work started with the disassembly of the clock.
