On Sept. 23, Avery Millisock, an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 183 in Blandon, hosted a flag raising ceremony at Maidencreek Community Park in Blandon to initiate the use of a 25-foot flagpole which was installed as part of his Eagle Scout Service Project. The new flagpole is located adjacent to the picnic pavilion and Little League baseball field. The community park is a heavily utilized public space that has never had a public flagpole. Scouts from Troop 183 assisted with the service project which also included landscape beautification of a memorial bench located near the flagpole. Spot lighting was also installed as part of the project to allow the flag to be flown at night.
