Boyertown Area School District officials met with police this morning regarding a non-specific threat received by a Middle School West student through social media.

“There is no credible threat,” said Acting Superintendent David Krem, explaining how the situation has been handled and it is now done.

Building Principal Greg Galtere sent out a message to staff and parents to notify them of the details. The message is also posted on the school’s website.

“Unfortunately, there have been a lot of rumors on social media concerning an incident which is supposed to happen Wednesday. These are based on speculation and false information,” read Galtere’s message. “The safety of our students is our top priority in the Boyertown Area School District and as always, we encourage you to speak with your child regarding the importance of reporting any potential concerns to a teacher, counselor, or administrator.”

Once the threat was reported to school administration, Colebrookdale Township Police Department was called to investigate and no charges were filed.

The student who sent the message is no longer attending Boyertown Area School District. Additional details could not be released due for confidentiality reasons.
