Families looking for a Halloween alternative – and lots of fun – are invited to the 2017 Petra Fall Fest at Petra Church, New Holland, on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28, 12 to 4 p.m. All are welcome, and everything but the optional purchase of Chick-fil-A sandwiches is free!

Attractions run the gamut from carnival games and crafts to a hay pile and little train rides. There will be a number of inflatables for all ages to climb and jump on, and a Kidz’ Korner with games and crafts designed especially for toddlers and preschool-aged kids.

A special feature this year is a set of shows by Jesse Rothacker, the Reptile Guy. Jesse is founder and president of Forgotten Friends Reptile Sanctuary in Lancaster County. He and his rescued reptiles bring fascinating input to over 150 live events a year. Open-air presentations will take place at 2 and 3 p.m.

Plenty of “fall food” will be offered, including hot chocolate, whoopee pies, caramel apples, and French fries. Guests will be able to roast hot dogs and make s’mores over open bonfires.

Petra is located at 565 Airport Road, New Holland, about a mile south of Route 23 by way of Kinzer Avenue or Ranck Road.
