During the entire month of October, the Art & Craft Gallery of Hamburg will feature the artwork of Eric Saylor, member of the Hamburg Area Arts Alliance. Eric appropriately chose October to showcase his fantastical art of bold, spooky characters.

Highlighting the scary and oftentimes funny elements of dreams and folklore, Eric paints his characters in rich colors and impossible shapes, forming creatures that are not of this world. He gets flashes of inspiration from music or life events and completes the images based on an emotion or feeling at an individual point in time. Many of his creations are based on cartoons, horror movies, stories, or his imagination.

Eric graduated from the Bradley Academy for Visual Arts in York, PA, in 2002, with a degree in specialized technology. Five years later, he moved to Florida where he worked as a free-lance illustrator for a few small companies and became involved with the West Palm Beach art scene selling his artwork at clubs, diners and conventions. Eric is a Hamburg native and returned to the area in 2015.

Eric invites everyone to see his art at the Art & Craft Gallery of Hamburg, 335 State St., Hamburg, during October. He will hold a special reception on Oct. 27 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the gallery. It will include wine tasting and other refreshments.

The Hamburg Area Arts Alliance, a subdivision of Our Town Foundation, a non-profit, community revitalization organization, is pleased to sponsor this event through a grant provided by the Berks Community Foundation. For more information, contact the Hamburg Area Arts Alliance at 610-562-3106.
