Michael Chaffier, with ties to Hamburg area, was recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor Ceremony at the New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hellertown.
Michael started out in the Boy Scout program as a Tiger Cub in 2005. In 2010, he earned the Arrow of Light and transitioned into Troop 416. As a member of Troop 416 Michael has held a variety of troop leadership positions and earned 26 merit badges on his journey to Eagle. As a scout Michael was also inducted into the Order of the Arrow.
For his Eagle project Michael built a lifeguard chair for the Saucon Valley High School pool where he was a member of the swim team and a lifeguard.
Michael is currently a freshman at Elizabethtown College majoring in biotechnology.
Michael is the son of Nicholas and Tracy (McGonigal) Chaffier of Hellertown. Tracy graduated from Hamburg Area High School, family members still reside in Hamburg area.
