The 2017 car show season is rapidly winding down and judging by the Berks County Mustang Car Club’s Fall Car Show at Cabela’s in Hamburg, the best might have been saved for last.

Capping a year which was riddled with bad weather on the weekends and rained-out or rained ON car shows the sun rose brightly on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The early morning temperatures in the forties quickly disappeared to a shorts and flip-flops kind of day topping the seventy degree mark.

There were 254 cars, trucks and motorcycles registered for the show and Cabela’s Lot A not only filled up but spilled over onto an adjoining lot as well. The 254 entries was a new high for the Berks County Mustang Car Club, a group that has been promoting car shows for years at various locations throughout the county.

All of the Berks County Mustang Car Club shows have a benefactor and all proceeds from the Cabela’s show went to DAV, Disabled American Veterans. The total raised for the Disabled American Veterans was $4,879.22 from vehicle registrations, Chinese Auctions and a 50/50 drawing. So far this year, BCMCCI has raised more than $7,700 for local Berks County charities. Including JDRF and Berks Encore.

Boy Scout Troop 4318, Adamstown, was at the show selling coffee and doughnuts in the morning. Later “Big Bertha” from Mission BBQ, Wyomissing showed up to provide pulled pork and pulled chicken. The troop raised over $1,300.
