Thanksgiving arrived early again this year on the Honey Brook bocce ball courts on Saturday, November 4th. Now a long time annual tradition, the November tournament focuses on the spirit of being thankful, in addition to the competitive bocce ball games.

Random teams of four were drawn from a hat, and each foursome was asked to come up with a team name that related to a Thanksgiving theme. Names ranged widely from the Basters to Mixed Nuts.

On a cool sunny fall day, these modern day Pilgrims met on the courts for a day of great bocce shots, fun, food and fellowship. In the end, the Plymouth Rocks landed safely in first place. In the Finals, they poured it on the Turkey Gravy team, which had been dripping with confidence until the Rocks stained their enthusiasm and gave them the second place trophies. The Wild Turkeys were finally tamed and came in third. Trophies each had a turkey head on the top.

A highlight of this special event is the mid-day Thanksgiving feast with turkey and all the trimmings. The “Bocce Pilgrims” needed extra digestion time before they continued their adventures on the courts.

Four events are planned each year. For more information for 2018 please contact the Honey Brook Borough Office.
