“Chicago” dancer Colt Weiss visited Hamburg to teach a master dance class at local studios. Horizons Dance Conservatory enjoyed Weiss’ class on Oct. 18, whereas Culture Shock Performing Arts Center held the class on Oct. 21.

Weiss began the class by doing a rigorous series of stretching, leaving all of the dancers sore for days after. Then, Weiss taught the dancers a small combination to across the floor with. Finally, the main portion of the class was spent learning the opening number to the musical “Chicago,” “All that Jazz.” The dance included “fosse walks”, inspired by the original choreographer, Bob Fosse. It also included audible breaths, in the typical style of Chicago. Students were also encouraged to improvise their own choreography in between the simple, yet impressive routine.

Weiss has travelled all around the world with the national tour of “Chicago.” He will be joining the tour again this November, so be sure to check him (and the show) out!
