EXETER >> Police have arrested a man after he allegedly burglarized a music store and attempted to flee with several instruments.
Stephen Lutz, 35, of Exeter, has been charged after police say they observed him riding a bicycle near the store with a large trash bag.
Police said they received a call for multiple burglar alarms Saturday night into Sunday morning at Zeswitz Music, 100 Gibraltar Road. When police arrived, the store appeared to be secure but one Exeter officer stayed back to keep close watch over the property.
The officer then noticed a man riding a bicycle and carrying a bag near the property, police said. When the man was confronted, police discovered he was in possession of several musical instruments, according to a post by Exeter Police.
Lutz did not initially admit to taking the items from the store but police confirmed later that he had been inside the store after reviewing video surveillance, according to reports.
Lutz has been charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, receiving stolen property and theft. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 6 before District Judge Sandra Fegley.
He was unable to post the set $50,000 bail and is being held at Berks County Prison.
