A annual Christmas tree sale, benefiting Shoemakersville Fire Company, begins Black Friday.
The tree sale will be held at the fire company at 300 Church Ave., Shoemakersville. Sale will be held Fridays and Mondays 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Dec. 23.
“The money raised during the tree sale goes towards new gear and equipment for the firefighters and the fire company itself,” said Shoemakersville Fire Company firefighter Trevor Roberts. “What makes the tree sale unique is that it is a great way for us to interact with the community. A lot of times families bring children along and like to see the firetrucks and the fire company and it is always great that they can come get a tree and also see what we are about at the same time. We see new and familiar faces every year come out to get a tree and it is great to see the support.”
Roberts said the tree sale would not be possible without all of the volunteer members of the fire company.
“They are the ones that make this happen every year and put in their time to see that it does happen. From picking up the trees to setting everything up to selling them it is one big group effort and that is what makes this event successful for us,” he said.
The cost for the trees is the same as last year which is $30 for any tree under 6 feet, and $35 for any tree over 6 feet. The brand of trees are usually Douglass Fir, as well as some Blue Spruce and Frazier Fir.
