Ashlee Ludwig, of Brandywine Heights High School and Kaitlin Kelly from Kutztown Area High School were honored as Kutztown Rotary’s Students of the Month in ceremonies at the Kutztown Tavern Nov. 1.

The award is given to a senior from each school every month during the school year upon nomination by their respective guidance counselors based upon academic accomplishment and their contributions to both the school and the community.

Kelly is the daughter of Jessee Kelly and Kenneth Keller of Kutztown. She is on the varsity soccer, softball and track teams. Her soccer team was named district champs in 10th grade making it all the way to the county competition and, as a senior, she serves as its captain. She is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, the National Honor Society, the Leo Club, is a Questbridge College Prep Scholar, president of the Debate Club, is an officer of student council and is in the Minithon in support of pediatric cancer research and the Outdoor Club. In addition, she volunteers for the Livingstone Fellowship Church and works as a waitress/hostess at the New Smithville Diner.

Ludwig is the daughter of Lori Kline-Ludwig and Michael Ludwig of Mertztown. She is a recipient of the Senator Judith L. Schwank Good Citizenship Award, is in the National Honor Society, Has been a class officer in 9th 10th and 12th grades, is captain of the volleyball team, president of the Future Business Leaders of America and is in the Spanish Club and Students Against Destructive Decisions. In the community, she volunteers for the Lyons Fiddle Festival and the Lehigh Valley Hospital. Last summer, she was a Playground Camp Counselor at Longswamp Park.
