“Historical Treasures of the Past” calendars are now available for purchase through the Amity Heritage Society.

Charles Miller, president of Heritage Society, says there are many reasons and matter of importance for the project.

“First and foremost the calendars are the Society’s fundraiser that allows us to keep the lights on,” said Miller. “But as far as the historical importance, these pictures depict a lifestyle long gone and forgotten. They represent the culture on which the modern day lifestyle is built upon.”

He also explained how they use the photos as a way for people to connect with their past through the depicted historical structures, architecture and occupations – many of which no longer exist.

“We feel these calendars are the best way to do that.”

The following is a list of locations where the calendars are available for purchase: Amity Township Municipal Building, Yellow House Hotel, Starr Books & Lucky Finds in Douglassville, Levengood Flowers Rt. 562, Boyers Market in Amityville, Britton Lodge, McGraths Automotive.

Those interested in the calendar can also send a check to the Amity Heritage Society. The cost is $12 ($10 + $2 shipping) . Checks can be sent to Amity Heritage Society P.O. Box 443 Douglassville, PA 19518.

The Amity Heritage Society recognizes the following families that contributed photographs for the calendar: Flannery, Ludwig, Kline, and Levengood.

“We still include some of the glass negatives from the Katie Ehrgood collection,” said Miller. “We would also like to thank George M. Meiser IV for making our pictures look fantastic.”
