The Friends of the Kutztown Community Library invited the community to attend their 2017 Holiday House Tour: Pathways through History on Dec. 3.

Attendees traveled back 300 years on a self-guided tour of six historic locations in Maxatawny and Upper Macungie Townships. Homes on the tour date from the late 1700s to the early 1900s. The tour paid tribute to two early settlers of the area, Johannes Siegfried (1691-1747) and Johan Egidius Grim (1700-1761).

“I love how people are preserving the history of their houses while making their own additions. This is especially nice during a time where we are so quick to tear things down,” said an admirer while passing through the Brubaker Residence.

“Doug Myers has devoted his retirement to making it [his home] the showcase that it is today,” said Tory Bieber.

“Warm, welcoming hosts,” said Darlene Moyer, Kutztown.

All proceeds benefit the Kutztown Community Library located at 70 Bieber Alley in Kutztown.
