Vehicle struck sign and tree on Route 222 Fleetwood, driver taken to hospital

A vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a business sign and tree on Route 222 South in Fleetwood on Dec. 29. The driver was extricated from his vehicle and transported to the hospital.

According to Fleetwood Borough Police, the driver, Vincent Frost, 54, Reading, was driving south on Route 222 when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes, left the roadway and then traveled about 200 feet through a drainage ditch, struck a business sign for LB Fencing, crossed over a business driveway and struck a tree.

Frost was extricated from his vehicle and then transported to Reading Hospital by PennState Lifelion EMS for related injuries.

Firefighters from Walnuttown, Fleetwood and Blandon fire companies assisted at the scene. Fire Police detoured traffic around the incident for about 30 minutes.

Fleetwood Police report that police believe Frost fell asleep just prior to the incident, however, the accident remains under investigation.
