Hamburg Area Middle School sent 19 students from 7th and 8th Grade to the Lebanon Valley College Bandfest 2018 on Jan. 11.
Nominated and selected to participate this year were Cleon Garl, Tyler Gingrich, Lucas Blatt, Abby Gracius, Collin Reppert, Ben Bracy, Arwen Buckwalter, ZoeAnn Metcalfe, Aaron Smith, John Gilberg, Grace Gilberg, Aaliyah Stump, Taylor Swartley, McKenna Ecker, Lola Folk, Anna DeAngelo, Avery Tworkoski, Audrey Rentschler, and Clarissa Dimovitz.
They rehearsed all day with other students from school districts surrounding the Annvile Lebanon Valley College area followed by a concert for parents and friends at 7 p.m. in the Blair Music Center on the Lebanon Valley College campus.
“This is a great program because it accomplishes two objectives: One, our Middle School students have the opportunity to learn additional band repertoire, rehearse with other students from the area, and gain additional performance experience,” said Megan (Reimer) Kline, Director of Bands at Hamburg Area High School and Middle School. “Two, the festival is organized and executed entirely by LVC Music Education students. Hamburg Area Middle School. They contact the directors, handle all logistics, and all of them have the opportunity to individually rehearse with the ensembles.”
“GREAT experience for all involved!” she said.
