State Police Patrol Units were dispatched to Interstate 78 westbound in Tilden Township at 10:47 a.m. on Jan. 17 for reports of a jack knifed tractor trailer truck.

State Police Hamburg reported that upon arrival on scene at mile marker 27.5, police found traffic had stopped due to white out conditions due to snow drift.

A truck attached to a flatbed trailer failed to stop and split the lanes, driving down the middle. The flatbed truck struck an SUV in the right lane over turning the vehicle onto its roof. The flatbed truck continued down the middle of both lanes, side swiping two tractor trailer trucks with trailers, one in the left lane and the other in the right lane. The flatbed truck then struck the rear of a trailer in the right lane, coming to final rest.

Five vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

State Police report that three people were injured but injuries were not serious.
