Students from Master Kim’s Black Belt Academy, in Bechtelsville, recently participated in a kick-a-thon to raise funds for The Boyertown Community Library.

The owner of The Academy, Master Kurt G. Miller, organized the event with the help of his staff and members of his Leadership Team. His students asked people to pledge a penny for each kick and then collected the money for the library.

It turned out to be a total team effort. In addition to the students kicking, there were other people who were very helpful in making the fundraiser a big success. Brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, and friends helped by keeping track of how many kicks were executed and holding targets for the kickers.

The participants were limited to doing 1,000 kicks so their sponsors would not have to dig too deep into their wallets. “I set a goal to collect $1,000 to donate to the library.

When it was all over and the money was collected, we actually raised $2,000 and doubled our goal. I was so proud of the effort everyone put forth. We even had a few local businesses donate to the cause” said Master Kurt G. Miller, owner of The Master Kim’s.
