Shrills of enjoyment filled the air at the Brandywine Heights Elementary Dance-a-Thon on Jan. 12 to raise money for the PTC for field trips and assemblies. The PTC provides this financial support to kindergarten through fifth grade.
“This event is purposely held in the month of January, due to the fact of the kids (need to be) being able to release pent-up energy within the cold months when they are not able to go out for recess as often due to weather conditions,” said PTC President Denise Frisch. “A reason as to why this event is held is to expose the students to the art of dance.”
Raised through a fun-filled student activity, the raised funds go towards student activities.
“It’s great to see the kids having fun while raising money for a good cause, our PTC,” said Brandywine Heights Elementary Principal Stephanie Kelly.
Elementary physical education teacher Mrs. Marti Smith said, “I love to hear the kids having a good time and enjoying the music, moving, and most importantly supporting the PTC for all they do!”
The glow on the kids’ faces as each grade walked through the gymnasium doors was a sight to behold, many dressed up for the event.
“I like that we’re dancing,” said elementary students Ziggy Johnson and Zachary Smith.
“It’s very fun for me because we get off school for an hour and dance!” said Charlotte Thiel.
