Kutztown Community Partnership with support of Kutztown Borough and Kutztown University, has named Sandy Green as the community liaison, which is a new position.

Green will play a critical role in enhancing and developing strategic partnerships throughout the community to foster positive relationships between local businesses, the university, and residents.

“KCP Board of Directors wanted to do more to support our current businesses and also work to attract the right kind of needed business to the borough,” said Jerry Schearer, KCP board president. “We also want to have better town-gown relationships especially among the students who live downtown and the residents.”

He continued, “This position is meant to do both of those things and with Sandy’s 12 years of experience as mayor, her background in business ownership, and her passion for Kutztown we can think of no one better to help KCP provide these services to the borough and university.”

Prior to joining KCP as community liaison, Green served as mayor of Kutztown for the last 12 years and as former vice president of the partnership. She also worked as an administrative assistant at several businesses including a role with the Kutztown Area School District.

Since 1994, she has been self-employed at Berkleigh Travel in Kutztown. Currently, Green is a member of the International Town and Gown Association where she was awarded Level 2 Certification.

Green is a graduate of Reading Area Community College with a degree in travel and tourism and grew up on a farm in Maxatawny Township.

Founded in 2002, Kutztown Community Partnership is a community-driven non-profit organization dedicated to the economic revitalization and preservation of Kutztown.
