Annual Prom Dress Drive announced by Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club

Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club announced today they will once again be hosting their local prom dress drive. BJWC will be collecting dresses through March 1st for their upcoming Once Upon a Prom event. The idea behind Once Upon a Prom is that once you’ve had your “once upon a time” moment, you can give another hers. BJWC members recognize that the dress is a huge part of going to prom and unfortunately for some young ladies it is an enormous financial burden. A few years ago, members decided to hold an event that would help provide beautiful prom dresses for those who might not otherwise have the means to purchase them.

This year will be the fifth year Boyertown Junior Woman’s Club is holding the event. Last year 52 girls attended from local communities. This year BJWC is hoping that number rises as they have over 500 dresses in stock! In Ian’s Boots will once again be generously donating shoes to complete the outfit. “The event has gotten bigger each year and the amount of donations from the community is just amazing. Every year we are able to help more and more girls find their perfect dress. It makes me so happy to see girls leave excited about their big day, and to know that we made it possible for them to go!” said Joanne Pritchard, BJWC member.

Girls in junior and senior high from all school districts are welcomed to attend the event which will be held on March 3, 4, 10 and 11 from 12 to 4 p.m. at Miracles in Motion, 1145 East Philadelphia Ave, Gilbertsville. There is no charge for the dress or accessories. Monetary donations in any amount will be accepted and donated to Boyertown Post Prom.

The ongoing success of this event is dependent on those willing to donate their gently used prom or special occasion dresses. BJWC welcomes clean, non-torn dresses of all sizes, both long and short, as well as purses, clutches, jewelry and wraps. Donations are being accepted through March 1st and can be dropped off at Zuber Realty, 201 E. Philadelphia Ave, Boyertown.
